Re: my therapist

zomg, y’all, I think I actually stumbled onto one I like.  The fact that she specializes in PPD/PPA is good, obviously, but also, I felt like we really just clicked pretty much instantly.  We have compatible senses of humor which I think is REALLY important for me to be able to work with her, and she has a PhD, which I think is important just for being able to understand one of the major stressors in my life.  (The original guy, who had a masters, said something in our first session about my spouse “dropping out” of grad school, which—look, you just DON’T SAY THAT, okay?  It has all these negative connotations that don’t even really make sense in the context.  You especially don’t say that to someone who is stressed the hell out about their own PhD program.  Anyway.)

(Actually, the good therapist did her masters IN MY DEPARTMENT, but that was almost 20 years ago and then she did her doctorate in psychology.  I think she pre-dated Professor Douchebag’s time there, even.)

We are going to start out by working on my complaint against the doctor who supervised my labor and delivery.  I told her I thought that getting it filed would help me get some closure and hopefully alleviate my PTSD, and she said that we could just walk through it and she would take notes and help me organize it and everything.  So: yay.
