Being in a class the first day, when the professor is trying to learn names. He asks the names of everyone who speaks. I speak; he doesn’t ask my name. I notice he also doesn’t ask any of the other Asian-appearing students their names when they speak, either. What, do we all look so alike you know you wouldn’t be able to tell us apart, so you’re not even going to bother learning our names? In class, college, female, Chinese-American. Made me feel like I was less than a person, and that my opinion didn’t matter as much because of my race.
