So, this article claims that 72% of black kids in America are growing up without fathers. Not only do I need to see the receipts for that stat, I need some kind of critical thinking skills applied to the idea of parenthood & race. Let’s be real, a lot of black kids growing up sans fathers don’t have black fathers. And that’s before we discuss what absentee means (that could be military service, jail, or simply living in two separate places but still co-parenting), as well as the reality that some kids have two parents & neither one has a penis. I’m all in on discussing modern parenting, but I need fewer white people pretending that only black families veer away from the nuclear.
