So, seriously, is hematology just the specialty of fuck-ups or what?
Good thing that pharmacist made concerned noises—my heparin levels are bad enough that the first thing the nurse calling with my results asked was if I’d been skipping doses. Yeah, that’s always what you want hear.
The good news: There actually are pre-loaded syringes available with what is ALMOST my dose.
The bad news: I said “almost.” I will have to give myself two shots at a time to actually achieve my dose… three times a day.
And I have to go to the hematologist on Friday, when we’re supposed to get another five inches of snow, to check my heparin levels again. Which, obviously, we need to do, but I’m still sore about how apparently this is yet another doctor who cannot be trusted AT ALL not to accidentally kill me.
I have had three hematologists. NONE OF THEM could be trusted not to accidentally kill me. So I’m asking, seriously, is there something about this particular medical sub-field that attracts people who shouldn’t be doctors in the first place?
